India-Vietnam Partnership Gains Momentum as Sherpa Highlights Trust, Shared Strengths
Indian Ambassador Tshering W Sherpa highlights India-Vietnam ties, shared civilisational links, ASEAN centrality and Vision MAHASAGAR, stressing trust, people-centric development and strategic autonomy.
Emphasising the partnership between India and Vietnam, Sherpa said the strong foundation of goodwill, mutual respect and trust, with people at the centre of the relationship, would remain vital to taking the traditional partnership to greater heights.
The Indian Ambassador to Vietnam wrote this in the Vietnamese English daily as New Delhi prepares to hold the 80th Independence Day celebrations tomorrow.
Describing Vietnam as a key pillar of India’s ‘Act East’ policy and Vision MAHASAGAR—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions—Sherpa reaffirmed India’s commitment to ASEAN centrality.
Sherpa noted that the evolution of India-Vietnam relations, rooted in shared civilisational ties, Buddhism, history and culture, has been “extraordinary”.
Highlighting India’s people-centric approach to development and its commitment to contributing to both domestic and global prosperity, rooted in the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning the world is one family, Sherpa also noted India’s role as a voice for the Global South while pursuing a course of strategic autonomy.
The remarks underscore the importance of goodwill, mutual respect and trust, as India and Vietnam continue to build on their traditional partnership and shared strengths.
